Summary

Responsibilities

Deal Execution

  • Participate in investment evaluation activity including financial modeling and scenario analyses
  • Collaborate with Managing Director, Vice Presidents and Senior Associates to outline transaction structures and create in depth business cases for potential investments
  • Support due diligence processes and evaluate all critical components of potential investments, bringing in outside experts as needed
  • Draft short-form and long-form investment memoranda

Investment Oversight

  • Support operating company post-close activities to ensure value creation drivers are maintained and managed
  • Work with Managing Director/CFO to monitor financial and Impact performance and evaluate returns on investments
  • Develop and conduct quarterly internal portfolio valuation and assist with portfolio reporting for presentation to Managing Director, Chairman, CFO and Board of Directors
  • Assist portfolio companies with strategy deployment and financial analyses as needed to achieve growth objectives
  • Provide support to portfolio companies efforts to identify and build relationships with potential bolt-on acquisition targets

Prospect Development

  • Conduct research and analysis, including but not limited to industry/market dynamics, competitive profiles, outreach calls, target profiling, primary research etc., to support deal opportunities in-line with Vermilion’s investment strategy
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with deal sources including investment advisors, investment bankers, other family-run enterprises, attorneys and other key stakeholders to ensure a robust pipeline of investment opportunities

Qualifications

  • 2+ years working in investment banking, private equity, family office, corporate development group, management consulting or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing/evaluating financial models, analyzing financial statements, understanding various valuation methodologies and working in a transaction-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
  • Strong command of accounting and finance
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to deliver both financial and impact-related outcomes through investments
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with excellent academic record, preferably with an emphasis in finance, accounting or economics
  • Interest and comfort working in a small, fast paced organization with an emphasis on teamwork, humility, stewardship and a commitment to doing the better thing

The base pay range for this role is up to $120K
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
